Whittaker House boutique Silver Anniversary Style Party November 28 from 10 am to 6 pm at the vintage New Buffalo location, 26 North Whitaker St. The 3rd annual "Helping Hand" Community Food Drive begins the same day and continues thru December 19. Ranae Sales, began the "Helping Hand Community Food Drive in 2006 with the goal of collecting food items and distributing to needs members of the community. In 2006, ten pick-up trucks of food was distributed. In 2008, over twenty pick-up truck loads of food was provided to the community. Acorn Theatre November entertainment includes: November 20, The Coal Men with Ben Bennedict opening at 8 pm. Tickets are $15, 16 and younger $10. November 21, Jim Schwall with Keri Noble opening at 8 pm. Tickets are $15. November 27, Rhythmwork at 8 pm. Adults: $15 or $12 with a donation of nonperishable food item for the Harbor Country Food Pantry. Children 10 and younger: $8 or $5 with a donation of nonperishable food item. November 28, Sean Masterson magic for families at 2 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger. The Village Puppeteer open the shows. November 28, Katie Todd Band at 8 pm. Customs Imports Holliday Shopping Party December 3 beginning at 5 pm. "The Grand Party" will showcase Harbor Country and include food from Skip's and Fitzgerald's as well as music and Karaoke. Door prizes will be presented during the evening. Members may donate items as prizes and receive a brief "commercial" at the event. The grand prize is a weekend in Harbor Country provided by the Fairfield Inn and Suites. There will also be a raffle to benefit WRHC. Sawyer Home & Garden Center Christmas Extravaganza: December 5, open until 11 pm. Santa will be at the Garden Center in the afternoon. From 7 to 11 pm, enjoy gourmet food prepared by Chef Joe as well as live music and special in-store promotions starting at 7 pm. The Sawyer Garden Center is located at 5865 Sawyer Road. Fritz Olsen Gallery "The Art of Giving" benefit for WRHC on December 5 featuring a Silent Auction and Raffle as well as "Sculpting with Words" at 2 pm and the premier performance of "Lost in a Sculpture Garden" - An engaging new play written by Gail Isaacson, at 5 pm. The play stars WRHC celebrities Robert Swan and Gwynne Winsburg. Suggested donation five dollars. Susan Fredman's At Home with Nature Holiday Open House on December 5 from noon to 6 pm, featuring creative ideas for holiday decorating. Fresh baked cookies and hot chocolate, the music of the season, and a fire in the fireplace add to the festivities. Harbor Grand & Marina Grand Resort host Teddy Bear Tea to benefit Toys for Tots on December 6 from 1-3 pm. Children of all ages are invited to enjoy kid-friendly tea sandwiches and fantastic holiday treats as Santa works the room to ensure every wish list gets heard. Chicago children's band The Dreamtree Shakers follow with a high-energy set of original songs and holiday classics. Admission is $8 per person with a donation of an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots. Chemical Bank Collects Mittens for Michigan. Chemical Bank has partnered with local United Way and other charitable organizations across the state to distribute new and gently used mittens, gloves, hats and scarves to needy Michigan individuals and families. The drive will run through the end of January. Collection boxes are located at all 129 full-service banking offices in 31 counties throughout the Lower Peninsula. Scarlet Macaw's Soldiers' Treats Project: Pick up a FREE 9" X 6" X 2¼" Priority Mail Box from the Scarlet Macaw CAC or your local Post Office. Send Hygiene, Food or Group Items. Please DO NOT MIX FOOD AND HYGIENE ITEMS IN THE SAME BOX. Fill each box ONLY with the items listed in the flyer we have prepared, available from Scarlet Macaw. Then drop the filled, unsealed box(s) off at the Scarlet Macaw CAC, 5888 Sawyer Road in Sawyer to be packed and mailed.
